Insights to Overcome Imposter Syndrome
Huge thanks to Jennifer Paine for hosting this event, sharing her valuable tips and experience as a coach. Feel free to reach out to her on Linkedin for any questions
To recap some tips on using “imposter thoughts” as fuel for growth and limiting its negative effect on our mental health:
Identify your imposter thoughts and write them down on a piece of paper.
E.g “I don’t know how to book meetings or cold call, I’m an imposter”
Find evidence for each thought, both supporting it and demystifying it from a logical point of view.
E.g “I was hired for a reason” “I have booked meetings in the past” but “I am not booking many meetings this quarter”
Reframe these thoughts and write down replies as if you’re talking to a friend - being nice & supportive to yourself.
E.g “Every call teaches me something new about the role, product, and persona that helps me improve”
Say these reframed sentence to yourself when in doubt. You can even create a wins journal of accomplishments that make you feel proud, to look at during rough days.
